WBHM Volunteer Coordinator
Position Summary:
The WBHM Volunteer Coordinator, in addition to volunteering themselves when available, will assist the WBHM team with identifying, organizing, and executing volunteer efforts for WBHM. They will also work with the WBHM team on identifying, recruiting, and communicating with volunteers for the station. The focus of their work with the volunteers will be aimed at supporting the business, programming, and audience development operations for WBHM. WBHM’s news team may make requests for volunteers, but there should be no expectation that this will include any on-air involvement.
While this is an unpaid position, this person will be provided with a WBHM issued MacBook and other office supplies to help them succeed in this voluntary role. They will:
- Be provided with an official UAB visitor badge which will grant them access to the WBHM offices during agreed upon hours.
- Be provided with a WBHM name tag and polo shirts.
- Have guest parking passes on an as needed basis.
- Be reimbursed for mileage when appropriate, in accordance with UAB guidelines.
- Have access to a flex working space and the WBHM conference room for volunteer purposes.
- Be invited to attend WBHM’s promotional and audience development meetings in an ex-officio capacity.
- Be able to request funds via WBHM’s Executive Director for volunteer activities and supplies as needed.
This person must:
- Be highly organized.
- Be able to learn to learn and master Sign Up Genius (WBHM has a paid account) to use with volunteer scheduling.
- An excellent communicator.
- Be able to handle confidential and sensitive nature on occasion.
- Become PCI compliant (to handle credit card information with our membership department).
- Be able to dedicate 5-10 hours a week in-person or in a hybrid setting.
- Provide feedback and advice in a constructive and professional manner.
