  22. The National Weather Service in Birmingham Saturday afternoon said Hurricane Irma will affect parts of Alabama on Monday and Tuesday. The eastern portion of the state will feel the effects most, including Birmingham, Clanton, Montgomery, Troy, Eufala, Alexander City, Anniston, Gadsden, and Auburn. Those areas could see 25-40 mph winds, and wind gusts as high as 55 mph. Rainfall totals will be from 1 to 3 inches. NWS meteorologist Gerald Satterwhite said Irma is not expected to pose a tornado threat in Alabama. The National Weather Service in Birmingham covers 39 counties.
