Neko Case: The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight

Singer song writer Neko Case is no stranger to success. But in between her 2009 release Middle Cyclone and her latest record The Harder Things Get, The More I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love you, she went through a period of depression.

Her latest record reflects upon that troubled time in her life. First her grandmother who she was close to passed away. That was followed by the death of her parents. Her relationship with both of them was complicated, rocky, and unresolved.

Case spoke with WBHM’s Sarah Delia about the new album and how for the first time in her career she decided to write songs that were personal and about herself. She begins by describing the cathartic yet hindering role her depression played in the album’s production.
