Severe Weather Expected Wednesday Across Alabama

EARLIER:
National Weather Service forecasters say strong storms will pop up across Alabama today bringing heavy rain, the potential for golf ball-sized hail and possibly tornados. The greatest risk is north of Interstate 59 but severe weather could still affect portions of the state to the south.
Forecasters say storms are expected start mid-afternoon today and continue through the night. There’s still a chance of isolated storms into the day on Thursday.
The University of Alabama will close today at noon because of the weather threat.
