Priska Neely

Gulf States Newsroom Managing Editor

Priska Neely is the managing editor for the Gulf States Newsroom, an exciting partnership between public radio stations in Louisiana (WWNO and WRKF), Alabama (WBHM), and Mississippi (MPB-Mississippi Public Broadcasting) and NPR. She is leading a team of regional beat reporters who cover health care, criminal justice, wealth and poverty and more. Through the Gulf States Newsroom, which launched in 2020, the stations and NPR are sharing resources, planning together and delivering more reporting in areas with widening gaps in local news coverage.

Prior to leading the collaboration, she was a reporter and producer for Reveal at the Center for Investigative Reporting. Before that, Neely was a senior reporter at member station KPCC in Los Angeles. Her reporting on Black infant and maternal health won several awards. She also spent time working on NPR's weekend All Things Considered and Talk of the Nation shows.

She is a native of Silver Spring, Md. and enjoys singing and hiking.
