Alabama Statehouse

Chris Pruitt, Wikimedia Commons

Alabama has its share of corrupt politicians. One high-profile example is former House Speaker Mike Hubbard, who was convicted of using his public office for personal gain. A bill in the legislature would make changes to ethics laws that critics say would actually encourage corruption. But the bill stalled in committee this week. We hear about that, a bill that would block local governments from banning plastic bags, and movement on the General Fund budget from Don Dailey. He’s host of Alabama Public Television’s Capitol Journal.
