Most of north central Alabama is under a winter storm watch as forecasters say up to three inches of snow could fall on Friday into Saturday morning. The watch starts at 6 a.m. Friday and ends at 9 a.m. Saturday. The watch covers roughly areas along Interstates 20 and 59 and stretches south toward but not including Montgomery.

The National Weather Service says up three inches of snow could fall along a line from Tuscaloosa through Birmingham to Anniston and just to the south. Lower amounts are possible to the west and north. Sleet and freezing rain are possible further south.

Icy conditions could make roadways dangerous.
