It’s been a deadly year in Birmingham with 19 homicides so far. But one of those won’t remain part of the count because it’s been ruled justifiable. It took place earlier this month near Railroad Park. A man shot and killed a 17-year-old after what police say was a gun deal gone bad. Alabama Media Group columnist John Archibald says the lack of charges in the case point to a wider political culture in Alabama that puts guns on a pedestal.
