One person is dead after a delivery truck flipped today on Interstate 65 North and landed below on Sixth Avenue South. The wreck happened around 1:30 p.m.

The deceased is believed to have been in the delivery truck, but an investigation is still in progress, said Capt. Bryan Harrell, spokesman for Birmingham Fire and Rescue.

“It looks like he hit one part of the guardrail and then came off the other section,” Harrell said.

A vehicle that was traveling near the interstate bridge on Sixth Avenue was struck in the accident, but the driver was not injured, Harrell said.
