The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory starting at 9 o’clock for the northern half of Alabama including Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Gadsden and Anniston as snow is expected to fall across the state today. The National Weather Service in Birmingham says rain will transition to snow beginning this morning over western portions of the state. Birmingham could see snow by midday with areas to the east getting snow after that. Less than an inch of accumulation is expect although isolated spots could see more. Snowfall totals could top a couple of inches in northern parts state.

Alabama School of Fine Arts — dismissing at 1 p.m.

Altamont — dismissing at 1:15 p.m.

Anniston City — dismissing at 11:30 a.m.

Birmingham City — dismissing at 1 p.m. *But Bush K-8 students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m., and high school students and staff will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m.

Calhoun County — dismissing at 11:30 a.m.

Creative Montessori (in Homewood) — dismissing at 2:30.

Cullman City — dismissing at noon.

Cullman County — dismissing at noon.

DeKalb County — dismissing at 11:30 a.m.

Etowah County — dismissing at 1 p.m.

Fort Payne City — dismissing at 11:30 a.m.

Homewood City — dismissing 1 p.m.

Hoover City — dismissing 30 minutes early at each level.

Jacksonville City — elementary dismissing at noon with high school dismissing at 11:30 a.m.

Jasper City — dismissing at 12:30 p.m.

Jefferson County — dismissing at 1 p.m.

Mountain Brook City — dismissing normal time, but after-school activities cancelled.

Oxford City — dismissing at 1 p.m.

Pell City — dismissing at noon.

Piedmont City — dismissing at 11:30 a.m.

St. Clair County — dismissing at noon

Vestavia Hills City — each school closing 30 minutes before usual dismissal time.

Walker County — dismissing at 11:30 a.m.
