A bill in the Alabama House would allow public school students to get elective credit for religious instruction. Southern Education Desk Reporter Dan Carsen recently interviewed Blaine Galliher, the bill’s sponsor and a proponent of such “release time” programs, which would have to be approved by local school boards and would not cost the schools any money.
