Gil Shaham is widely considered to be one of the world’s top violinists. With more than two dozen CDs to his name, his recordings have earned some of the most prestigious awards in classical music — including multiple Grammys. But there’s one work he hasn’t recorded: Beethoven’s Violin Concerto — in fact, he stayed away from it for years.
