Steve Chiotakis leaving WBHM
(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.) – Morning Edition host and reporter Steve Chiotakis will leave WBHM to become co-host of the Marketplace Morning Report, a national business program heard on 341 stations. The program airs within Morning Edition and is heard on WBHM weekdays at 6:50 a.m. and 8:50 a.m.
An award-winning reporter, Chiotakis leaves WBHM after 12 years at the station.
“I’m going to miss everybody at WBHM. They are family to me and I wish them nothing but the best.”
“Obviously I have mixed feelings about leaving. Birmingham has been my home for many, many years, and WBHM has been a special place for me. But this is a terrific opportunity that I just couldn’t pass up,” said Chiotakis who adds, “I’m going to miss everybody at WBHM. They are family to me and I wish them nothing but the best.”
“His move speaks well for his WBHM accomplishments and the respect he and WBHM have gained from colleagues, producers and public radio networks,” said General Manager Mike Morgan.
The Marketplace Morning Report is produced in Los Angeles and distributed by American Public Media.
Chiotakis’ last day at WBHM will be Friday, October 3rd. WBHM’s Andrew Yeager will host Morning Edition starting October 6th until the position is filled. The station will conduct a national search to fill the position.
