Highlights From The Big Q: Youth and Race

Earlier this year, a video went viral on social media. It featured a group of white students from Hoover and Spain Park High Schools using racist and anti-semantic language. In response, the schools held assemblies to educate on racial inclusion. But some students – especially African-American students – at those schools remained stunned and said not enough was being done to combat racism.

In this episode of The Big Q, we discuss the intersection of youth and race. How do young people look at race? How do they handle differences? And how do educators handle acts of racism in the classroom?

The program was hosted by WBHM’s local hosts Andrew Yeager and Janae Pierre.
