Take two state lawmakers, add a lobbyist and a healthcare executive and you get Alabama’s latest public corruption case. That’s according to law enforcement, who on Monday arrested Republican state Rep. Jack Williams of Vestavia Hills and lobbyist Marty Connors, who is a former chairman of the Alabama Republican Party.
Authorities say they were part of a scheme to push a bill through the legislature in 2016 that would have benefited a California company. Alabama Media Group columnist John Archibald summarizes the case and offers his perspective.
