Birmingham resident Jacob Long started listening to WBHM for one simple reason: he wanted to learn more about the 2016 presidential primary.
“I wanted to know what was going on and have a basis for my opinion and just wanted to become a more informed citizen,” says Long.
Long says he fell in love with what he heard on WBHM. He also noticed a change within himself.
“I was this sort-of apathetic youth that didn’t feel like anything really affected me and let everyone else who has a stake in it be the ones throwing their opinions around,” says Long. “Without NPR I don’t think I would have ever thought of my opinion and thoughts as relevant.
“It made me feel more relevant by being more informed.”
