A Scramble in the Final Days of the Legislative Session

Alabama lawmakers are racing the clock before the legislative session ends next week to decide on a prison construction plan.

The penultimate week of Alabama’s legislative session was a hectic one. The legislature is scrambling to pass state budgets. And as Don Dailey, host of Alabama Public Television’s Capitol Journal tells WBHM’s Gigi Douban, two bills drew a lot of attention this week as the clock ticked on: the autism bill and the prison construction bill, which proponents hoped would ease overcrowding and safety concerns.
