New Report: Lack of Regional Cooperation Hinders Birmingham’s Growth

Birmingham has had tremendous growth over the last decade, but it pales in comparison to other major cities in the region. The city has seen just .24 percent growth in average annual employment since 2000. Community advisers say it’s time for Birmingham to get its act together or risk becoming the third largest city in Alabama. A new report by the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham and the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama (PARCA) outlines what the city needs to do to move forward, and we talk about that in this week’s Magic City Marketplace with Birmingham Business Journal editor Ty West.
