Some of Birmingham’s neighborhoods have been reborn and revitalized, giving the city an economic boost. Take Railroad Park and Regions Field, the Avondale area, and downtown, for example. The city has a new task force to tackle elements of that growth. But many neighborhoods been left to languish. And it’s that inequality that makes Birmingham’s gentrification so thorny, according to Alabama Media Group columnist John Archibald. We talk with him about the real issues behind gentrification.
