UAB Athletics announced yesterday that they exceeded a second crucial fundraising mark in the Finish the Drive campaign.
Donors have pledged more than 5.2 million dollars so far. That exceeds the 4.5 million dollar goal needed by January 15th. UAB Director of Athletics Mark Ingram says surpassing this goal sends a message that the competitive future of Blazer Athletics is just as important as the money itself.
The next milestone is eight million dollars by September first of this year. After that, the campaign will need at least three million dollars a year to reach the full 17.2 million by late 2019.
The funds will be used to bring back UAB football, bowling and rifle programs.
