Not all changes at WBHM are audible.
Overnight tonight (Thursday, Feb. 26), we will be making some important infrastructure and IT upgrades that require WBHM, WSGN in Gadsden, 104.7 FM in Fort Payne, and the Alabama Radio Reading Service to be off the air and offline from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Friday.
If you like to geek out on the behind-the-scenes world of radio, some of these improvements include:
Updates to the automation system and audio servers and upgrading the studio transmitter link (STL), which sends the radio waves from the station on University Boulevard to the transmitter atop Red Mountain
We apologize for this disruption and thank you for your commitment to public radio in North Central Alabama which helps make these upgrades possible.
