Separate but equal was a legal doctrine in U.S. constitutional law that justified systems of segregation. It seems like a vestige of the past. But new research shows southern schools are increasingly resegregating.

This week, WBHM is airing a series called Segregation Shifts: The New Faces of an Old Problem. Today, we take you to the rural town of Coldwater, Mississippi, where white students attend one high school and black students attend another. The Southern Education Desk’s Annie Gilbertson reports it’s spurred debate about the concept of separate but equal.
