Public Radio WBHM 90.3 FM Will Begin Airing Radiolab Oct. 5

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Public Radio WBHM 90.3 FM will add the Peabody award-winning program Radiolab to its regular weekend schedule beginning Saturday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m.

Radiolab is an experiential investigation that explores themes and ideas through a patchwork of people, sounds, and stories. Hosted by Jad Abumrad with co-host Robert Krulwich, Radiolab is designed for listeners who demand skepticism but appreciate wonder; who are curious about the world, but also want to be moved and surprised.

Jad Abumrad is a 2011 McArthur Genius Grant recipient. He uses his background as a composer to orchestrate dialogue, music and sound effects to engage listeners with topics that could otherwise be intimidating.

Robert Krulwich has been called “the most inventive network reporter in television” by TV Guide. He came to national prominence for his innovative work on NPR, which included encouraging other NPR hosts and journalists to explain complex economic concepts in mouse voices.

“There have been many requests for Radiolab, back to when it was offered as an occasional special only a few times a year,” said General Manager Scott Hanley. “We are delighted to bring this unique blend of science, philosophy, and the human experience for listeners in North Central Alabama each week.”
