Rep. John Rogers Questions County’s Management of Cooper Green Money
Gov. Robert Bentley is entering the fray over Birmingham’s Cooper Green Mercy Hospital. The governor was in Hoover this week to speak at an economic development meeting. When reporters asked him about Cooper Green, Bentley said he believes the hospital must continue to offer in-patient care for the poor. And, for the first time, he said he would intervene to make sure that happens if both sides asked for it. One of the most vocal critics of the plan to downsize Cooper Green is Democratic State Representative John Roger. WBHM’s Tanya Ott spoke with Rogers today about the governor’s comments and what Rogers thinks should happen to Cooper Green.
