Green Tea Rx

There’s been a lot in the news lately about the health benefits of drinking tea, especially green tea. It’s proving to be a potent weapon in the fight against cancer, but not just in its prevention.

It appears green tea polyphenols, or antioxidants, may actually stop the growth of certain tumors and keep the disease from spreading throughout the body. Those findings were published in this month’s “Clinical Cancer Research” by UAB researcher Dr. Santosh Katiyar.

Much of Katiyar’s work has focused on the affect of green tea on breast and skin cancer cells. His experiments have, thus far, been conducted on lab mice. Katiyar recently spoke with WBHM’s Rosemary Pennington about his research.
