Nashville resident Marvelyn Brown found out she was HIV positive when she was 19. She was sick, in the hospital and was tested while she was unconcious. She says, had she been awake, she would have refused the test and would probably be dead.

Brown spent six months roaming the streets. She says family and friends didn’t really know what to do with her once they found out she had HIV. Since then she’s become a advocate for AIDS issues and is now certified to test people in the community. You can listen to her story by clicking the icon above.
