WBHM seeks an outgoing and enthusiastic individual with a passion for public media to cultivate corporate support for WBHM and expand the station’s capabilities by helping reach fundraising goals.

The ideal candidate should have development experience, the ability to identify and research prospects and present proposals to interested entities, and be familiar with advertising, advertising sales, fundraising, and/or public radio/television.


The corporate account executive will solicit businesses and organizations to purchase on-air sponsorship announcements to support the station’s programming and help reach its fundraising goals; identify and research prospects, develop client relationships, present proposals to interested businesses, organizations and agencies, and finalize sponsorship agreements; work with station management to develop goals and development strategies, and assist with other fundraising or station initiatives as needed. The qualified candidate will be required to keep abreast of best practices in the field and remain up-to-date on current trends and new technologies.  This person should anticipate change and ensure the organization is positioned to succeed.


  1. Networking with current and prospective clients or their agent/agency at their place of business, at outside events, and lunch and dinner meetings to cultivate new donor relationships and discover potential support for station programming and other initiatives. May include nights and weekends.
  2. Presenting sponsorship proposals to prospective supporters both in the office and at off-site locations.
  3. Using market research data to match the station’s audience with the prospective sponsors’ market demographics.
  4. Identifying and researching prospective clients and categories of business support and cultivating relationships with advertising agencies and their personnel.
  5. Working with WBHM Traffic and Programming staff on matters regarding WBHM’s programming schedule and on-air underwriting inventory, creating underwriting announcement flight(s), and coordinating with WBHM on-air talent to ensure announcements air according to the agreed-upon terms.
  6. Finalizing underwriting contract sponsorship agreements with clients both in the office and at off-site locations.
  7. Directly soliciting and securing corporate support for station events and programming initiatives.
  8. Assisting WBHM Marketing and Programming staff in community outreach.
  9. Performing other duties as assigned.


Bachelor’s degree in English, Media, Communications, Sales, Marketing or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
