Journalist Janae Pierre will join WBHM as a general assignment reporter and local host of NPR’s All Things Considered.
Pierre is currently a reporter and host at WWNO, the NPR affiliate in New Orleans. She was named one of Radio Ink’s 2017 Future African American Leaders in Radio and received the Sophie Aramburo Servant/Leader Award. A native of New Orleans, Pierre is a graduate of Xavier University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications.
“We’re thrilled to have Janae join our team,” says WBHM News Director Gigi Douban. “Our audience is sure to appreciate her curiosity, energy, and enthusiasm as a journalist. We look forward to her joining our newsroom.”
Pierre joins WBHM on June 18 and will begin hosting and reporting during weekday All Things Considered later in the month.
She says she was attracted to Birmingham by the strong and positive reputation of WBHM and the chance to live and work in a city on its way up. ‘I’m thrilled to join the team at WBHM,” says Pierre. “And I look forward to bringing more innovative news stories to public radio listeners in Birmingham and surrounding areas.’
