In early December, 2006, Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Spenney, presented WBHM with a gift of $25,000, the largest individual gift in the station's history. The Spenneys, longtime friends and supporters of the station, presented to the check to General Manager Mike Morgan. "We're extremely honored that Dr. Spenney and his wife chose to support WBHM with this major gift. In our conversations he expressed his great pleasure with our programming and community service. He said he understood and appreciated our commitment to excellence and wanted to support that excellence with this $25,000 gift. We greatly thank the Spenneys for their commitment to quality public radio programming and their willingness to fulfill that commitment with this major financial gift to WBHM."

A portion of the gift will go into WBHM's Equipment Fund. Quality radio requires not just great content, but also reliable, up-to-date equipment to guarentee that the signal will reach its intended audience with the sound quality our listeners expect. The Spenneys' gift will help WBHM acquire and maintain the equipment necessary to ensure quality radio for our listeners.
