90.3 WBHM Birmingham-- You might say Dan Tenpas has some extra adventure each morning on his commute. That's because Tenpas commutes by bike.

Tenpas would love to see more people commute by bike, but says that's a challenge because of poor infrastructure and a car culture that doesn't believe cyclists should be on the road. Some in Birmingham are trying to change that. Friday morning, the Greater Birmingham Regional Planning Commission is among the sponsors of a Bike-to-Work day. Tom Maxwell is an environmental planner with the planning commission. He agrees Birmingham is not particularly friendly to cyclists. But Maxwell tells WBHM's Andrew Yeager that discussion of these issues goes back quite a ways.
